John Mason, the Centre’s director, studied acupuncture
at the Australian College of Natural Medicine in
Melbourne, graduating in 1999. He holds a Bachelor of
Health Science (Acupuncture), and an Advanced Diploma of
Heath Science (Acupuncture).
He has completed a certification course in Facial
Rejuvenation Acupuncture at the College of Traditional
Acupuncture in Warwick, England. He studied there under
Virginia Doran, M.Ac. L.Ac, LMT, world renowned teacher,
lecturer and practitioner of that therapy.
In 2000, he opened Lilydale and Yarra Valley
Acupuncture, and developed it into a successful,
multi-discipline clinic. He sold the practice last year
and moved to the Douglas Shire in August, 2006, in
search of a better lifestyle for himself and his family.
He has lectured in Acupuncture at the Australian College
of Natural Medicine and currently sits on the Course Advisory
Committee for the Chinese Medicine Faculty of
Melbourne’s Southern School of Natural Therapies.
John is a strong believer in the value of Traditional
Chinese Medicine in today’s modern culture.
“TCM is a combination of art and science,” he says. “Art
is an aspect of medicine that seems to have all but
disappeared from today’s orthodox Western medicine. The
art of TCM is in its assessment of the patient as a
whole person which gives us a better understanding of
how to treat their particular condition and how to
minimise the likelihood of future recurrence.”
